This Privacy Policy explains how Accent Financial Services (“Taxsmithing,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use app.taxsmithing.com (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Account information you provide, such as your name, email, phone number, and password.
• Questionnaire information you enter about your tax situation, such as income, household, business, property, and goals.
• Documents you choose to upload, such as W-2s, 1099s, and prior returns.
• Communication preferences and consent, including whether you opted in to email and text updates.
• Technical information such as log data and basic usage needed to operate and secure the Service.

You control what you share. You do not need to provide sensitive identifiers like your Social Security number to use the Service, and we do not ask for them here.

How we use your information

• To provide the Service and build your tax picture.
• To generate educational strategy ideas you request, which analyzes your questionnaire answers and any documents you have uploaded.
• To communicate with you, including welcome messages and updates you have consented to receive.
• To secure the Service, prevent abuse, and meet legal duties.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the contents of your questionnaire or documents for advertising.

Service providers

We use trusted vendors to run the Service, and they may process data only to provide services to us. These include, for example, our hosting and database provider (Supabase), our application host (Vercel), our customer-relationship platform (GoHighLevel) for communications you opt in to, our payment processor (Stripe) for any purchases, our scheduling tool (Calendly) for booking meetings, and our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate strategy ideas you request. When you choose to generate strategy ideas, the information from your questionnaire and the documents you have uploaded are sent to Anthropic to analyze and produce those ideas. Anthropic processes this data to provide the service and, under its commercial terms, does not use it to train its models. If you would prefer your documents not be analyzed this way, simply don't upload them, the questionnaire alone still works.

How we protect your information

We use encryption in transit and at rest, strict access controls so that only you can reach your own data, and optional two-factor authentication on your account. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your tax information as some of the most sensitive data you have.

Your choices and rights

• Access and update: view and edit your profile and answers anytime from your account.
• Documents: add or remove your uploaded documents whenever you want.
• Communications: change your email and text preferences in your account, or unsubscribe using the link in any message or by replying STOP to texts.
• Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and then delete or de-identify it unless we are required to keep it for legal or record-keeping reasons.

Children

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
